Message From The Athletic Director

Temecula Preparatory School is a school whose purpose is to instruct the students in excellence.  Although this is usually thought of as referring to leading our students to their best academically, it also refers to developing the whole self in our young ladies and gentlemen, and teaching them to aspire for character excellence.  Given this, it makes sense that sports at our school play a vital role in the education and development of our students.  It is understood by the board, faculty, and administration that team sports play a vital role in character development, and is an important part in the lives of our TPS students.

The vision for the athletic program’s development is to not be static, but to continue to move toward something we can be proud of.  In order to reach this goal and to achieve it the proper way, it is understood that the goal cannot be reached all at once, but we must rather undergo a growth process and experience the inevitable steps along the way.  This growth process occurs due to reasons that will also grow with time such as the number of students required to actually field teams, the number of faculty members needed to coach teams, facilities needed to house the teams properly and of course, finances.  The students and parents of TPS ought to know that any lack of athletic resources at TPS, when compared to other schools, is not due to a disregard for the importance of athletics or from a lack of effort on the part of TPS faculty and administration, but rather for the reasons listed above.

Much goes on behind the scenes, but visible progress with the athletic program was seen last year with the first year of our C.I.F. (California Interscholastic Federation) golf program for boys and girls, and the C.I.F. girl’s soccer team.  This currently puts us with a C.I.F. golf, soccer, and track team for both girls and boys.  This year, we are introducing middle school team sports throughout the entire school year.  Currently, we have girl’s volleyball and boy’s flag football for the middle school students.  Throughout the year we will have a basketball and soccer team for middle school boys and girls, and possible track, golf, and swim meets at the end of the year.  Next year, the plans are to add another high school team sport for both girls and boys.  The sport that is chosen depends on the facilities request made for next year’s campus site which is currently waiting for approval.

During these foundational years as a school, we all have the privilege to be a part of starting something special.  Also during these years, we bear the duty to make sacrifices for the success of the future.  The help and patience of parents, faculty, and administration is greatly appreciated by me.  It is my pleasure and privilege to be the athletic director at TPS, and I am optimistic about the future of our athletic program and the success of Temecula Preparatory School.
