Temecula Preparatory Schools ESLR’s

Each school should have a set of guiding standards that is used to help parents, students and staff measure how well the school is completing its vision for the future and mission for today. In other words, is it headed in the right direction? In academia these standards are referred to as “ESLR’s” an acronym for “Expected Schoolwide Learning Results.” If students are progressing year to year and ultimately graduating through meeting these standards, then the school is doing its job.

TPS has only three ESLR’s or standards to which it looks to evaluate a student’s achievement,. However these three are very important to each other. One is unable to stand on its own without the others. In a sense, it is much like a three-legged stool. Together all three legs form a strong basis for the weight of the student, but without one leg the stool is bound to topple. The three legs of our TPS ESLR’s are Docere (Education), Disciplina (Discipline) and Virtus (Virtue). These three tenets are measured as follows:

Docere (Education)

TPS students are analytical thinkers and problem solvers who:

  1. Acquire a classical foundation of core knowledge through absorption
  2. Make responsible decisions based on the study of traditional values
  3. Use problem-solving techniques to evaluate concepts and principles
  4. Research and apply the diverse implementation of technology via primary sources
    and rhetorical theory

Disciplina (Discipline)

TPS students are clear and comprehensible communicators who:

  1. Listen, read, write, speak, and absorb
  2. Exercise multiple disciplines through the expression and communication of classical methodology
  3. Employ technology to communicate effectively to the global market

Virtus (Virtue)

TPS students are exemplary citizens who:

  1. Demonstrate standards of excellence in virtuous character, manners, and civility
  2. Understand the principles of a democratic society, emphasizing American and Greco-Roman History.
  3. Exhibit responsible citizenship through the demonstration of learned virtues and ethical service instituted by classical academia
